Clinical Pilates for Cyclists
Did you know that Clinical Pilates can be used to optimise your cycling technique and riding position? At Wisdom Physiotherapy we provide specific Clinical Pilates for Cyclists programs.
It is well known that choosing the right bike and fitting it properly goes a long way to improving riding efficiency and also preventing injury. However, ask yourself ‘what about my own body?’, do you spend the time to actually set it up for the hundred kilometres you do every week?
Certain postural weaknesses can hamper or restrict you and make you prone to injuries. Poor spinal flexibility and hip control can negatively affect your aerodynamics. An imbalance in strength can lead to overloading one side of your body and cause further injuries. Poor range of motion can decrease the chance of reaching optimum performance within your muscles resulting in decreases in power and speed.
Do you spend the time to set yourself up for the hundred kilometres you do every week?
Your love for cycling may keep you on your bike, but why not avoid unnecessary pain and also increase power and efficiency?
We use Clinical Pilates, directed by Physiotherapists to address these deficiencies and improve your bio-mechanics to get more out of your cycling and prevent injury. It is important to note that Clinical Pilates is not like a “gym” class (not to be confused with Studio Pilates), it is a specific tool used by Physiotherapists.
Our Physios have trained extensively with DMA (Dance Medicine Australia), who are the leaders of Clinical Pilates training and research in Australia and internationally.
Our Clinical Pilates classes address your needs with personalised programs, providing faster and long-term results. Your program is specific to you, with exercises selected by our Physiotherapists for what your body needs.
